SudoWhizzy vs cPanel

A cPanel alternative for people who run their own servers

cPanel is built for hosting companies selling accounts. If you run your own shop or sites on your own VPS, you may not need a panel at all: describe what you want to your AI, and SudoWhizzy lets it do the work on the server directly, with you approving anything risky.

cPanel is the better choice when

  • You sell hosting accounts to customers and need WHM, resellers and per-account limits.
  • You host email on the same server and want a mailbox interface.
  • Your customers expect a familiar panel to manage their own files and databases.

SudoWhizzy is the better choice when

  • You run your own shop or sites, on one or a few servers.
  • You already use Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor and would rather ask than click.
  • You want a lean server with only the services your site needs.
  • You run Magento, where most panels get in the way of a proper stack.
  • You want every change on the server logged and reversible.

Can I use both?

Yes. SudoWhizzy works on a server that already runs cPanel: your AI can read logs, diagnose and fix problems there, with the same approvals. Many people start that way and drop the panel when they move to a new server.

Questions

Can I move my sites off a cPanel server?

Yes. Install the agent on the old server and the new one, and your AI follows the migrate playbook: a matching stack on the new server, files and database copied directly between the two, a short maintenance window and the old server kept as the way back.

What about email?

SudoWhizzy does not host email. We recommend a dedicated email provider for your domain: it is cheaper than running a mail server well, and keeps your web server simpler. Your AI can set up the DNS records and an SMTP relay for your site's own mail.

Do I lose the convenience of a file manager?

Your AI reads, writes and edits files for you, and you keep SFTP and SSH as before. Most tasks people open a file manager for become a sentence.

Is it cheaper?

It depends on how many accounts your cPanel license covers. SudoWhizzy is priced per server, starts free for one server read-only, and has no per-account fee.
